Product performance of expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam materials is highly sensitive to actual production equipment, workshop temperature, mould parameters and raw‑material matching. Laboratory data cannot fully simulate the real‑world production environment of downstream foam factories. For this reason, the R&D team of Rizhao Gon Chemistry recently launched a round of field technical service tours, travelling to multiple downstream foam product manufacturing factories located in Chengdu, Qingdao and surrounding industrial zones.
Our engineers carried out on‑site material sampling, real‑time production tracking and in‑depth technical research. During field investigations, we sorted out many typical production pain points widely troubling foam manufacturers, including unstable foaming ratio, large fluctuation of finished‑product density, poor surface smoothness, high finished‑product scrap rate and inconsistent performance between different production batches.
On‑site Formula Adjustment & Production‑parameter Optimization
At each visited factory, our technical team worked side‑by‑side with the customer’s production operators and workshop supervisors. We recorded real‑time data of existing production lines, including steam temperature, foaming dwell time, feeding speed and mould venting settings.
Based on collected field data, our technicians standardized the whole production workflow, precisely adjusted multiple key production‑process parameters, and set‑up multi‑group comparative production tests with different EPS formula versions. We collected large volumes of measured on‑site test data, which was fed back to our laboratory for further iteration and optimization of EPS raw‑material formulas and complete supporting process solutions.
This face‑to‑face on‑site service effectively solved customers’ practical bottlenecks in mass‑production. It greatly reduced customers’ trial‑production raw‑material loss, lowered production cost and significantly raised finished‑product qualification yield. Field test data obtained from factory workshops is the most valuable foundation for material upgrading.
